The hunt for state titles in baseball and softball begins

Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit needed 9 innings to do away with Kenton Ridge in the first baseball semi-final for D2.

Big upset of #1 Convoy Crestview by upstart Danville. Crestview made a huge error when senior Meghan Henry was set to score but for some reason stopped and turned around and was tagged out in an attempt to return to 3rd base. Cview would have been up 1-0. Danville then scored two, though it could have been worse as they loaded bases with no outs. Then Melissa Eickholt's 2-run homer tied things up. It looked like Crestview would get the last word in the bottom of the 7th as pitcher Chelsea Lare had 2 outs but then walked a batter and then Danville got on a roll and managed to send one to home for a 3-2 lead. Crestview would threaten again with runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out, but a double play sent Danville onto the championship game and Crestview was upset once again in the state semi's. Crestview has been favored going into the state tourney in 2001, 2005, 2006, and this year, but only in 2005 did they manage to win it all.

Word is Canal Winchester up 3-1 on Notre Dame Cathedral Latin.

More later....

Way to call out the one girl that helped keep the Crestview team in it. Why not say that for some reason the Coach brought her back. Who are you to call out anyone. I believe there were several more important mental errors that happen in the game after that that lead to the defeat of Crestview. It was a total team effort the way the Crestview girls played this year and for you to call out one play that did not effect the outcome of the game is stupid on your part. The Henry girl is probably the girl on the team that wanted to win the most. I believe an apology is due to Meghan Henry.
