Saturday served as the start of the 08/09 volleyball season. For the most part there weren't many upsets or surprises, nor were there very marquee matches. Here are some of the highlights to note:
Marquee Matches:
Division III
#1 L.C.C. defeated #8 Milan Edison 25-14, 12-25, 25-14, 25-17
Division I
#6 Magnificat defeated #5 Amherst Steele 25-22, 20-25, 25-22, 25-22
Division II
#4 Bishop Hartley defeated #8 Bexley 25-16, 25-9, 25-7
Other winners:
D2 #15 Kenston defeated D1 #17 Perrysburg
D2 #7 Wooster Triway defeated D4 #12 Kidron Central Christian in five games
D3 #12 West Salem Northwestern defeated D2 #12 Tallmadge
More winners:
Versailles swept a tri-match easily
Cincinnati Ursuline rolled
Marion Local won
New Bremen won
Leipsic won
Salem won
Vandalia Butler won
Big Walnut won
Sylvania Southview won
Pickerington North won
Lebanon won
Cincinnati Mt. Notre Dame won
Final Thought: Despite getting beat by powerhouses St. Henry and Mt. Notre Dame yesterday, D1 Centerville took them each to three tight games, and they easily upset D1 #18 Dayton C-J. They are certainly a team to watch.
